How to use a password ?

Read on to find out how to use a password stored in LockPass.

All users can use passwords from their Personal Space and Shared Space.

Auto-completion of a website fields (with the browser plug-in)

  1. Requirement 1 : Make sure the browser extension is installed (on Edge, Firefox or Chrome).
  2. Requirement 2 : Make sure you are logged into LockSelf
  3. Requirement 3 : Make sure the password has been saved in LockPass

When you are on a website's login page, blue padlocks mceclip1.png will be automatically positioned on the username and password fields. By clicking on the padlocks, you will be able to select your login and your fields will be automatically filled.

  • Step 1 : Click on one of the padlocks mceclip1.png

  • Step 2 : On the pop-up window that appears, choose the desired login.
🚨 If multiple logins are shown, it means that several passwords have been stored in LockPass for this website.

The username and password are then automatically filled in: all you have to do is connect to the website.

In case the padlocks do not appear in the right fields or do not appear at all, you can make them appear by following these steps :

  • Step 1 : Right click in the username and password fields.

  • Step 2 : Select « LockSelf ».

  • Step 3 : Click « Use this field in LockPass » or « Do not use this field in LockPass » depending on what you want to do.


Copy and paste a password on a website (with the browser plug-in)

  1. Requirement 1 : Make sure the browser extension is installed (on Edge, Firefox or Chrome).
  2. Requirement 2 : Make sure you are logged into LockSelf
  3. Requirement 3 : Make sure the password has been saved in LockPass

It is also possible to copy your username and password and paste them into the appropriate fields on the website, directly with the plug-in, without returning to the LockPass interface.

  • Step 1 : Click on the plug-in at the top right and then on « Website's Passwords ».

  • Step 2 : Copy the username and the password with the shortcut buttons mceclip2.pngmceclip1.png to the right of the login and then paste them into the fields provided.

Then all you have to do is connect to the website.

Copy and paste a login on a local application

To use a password stored in LockPass on a local application, you will be able to copy and paste your username and your password from LockPass, then paste them into the fields provided.

  • Step 1 : Select the password, then on the right information panel, use the shortcut mceclip0.png to copy your username and password.

  • Step 2 : Paste your username and password in the fields provided in the local application, and log in.
