How to use a password with the browser extension ?

The LockSelf browser extension can be used by all users. It allows you to perform different actions, such as using passwords.

Use auto-completion of fields

  • Requirement 1 : The browser extension must be installed (on Edge or Chrome).
  • Requirement 2 : The password must have been saved in LockPass
  • Requirement 3 : The URL of the login page must have been entered correctly when the password was saved in LockPass

When you arrive on a login page of a website, LockSelf shields bouclier.png will be automatically positioned on the username and password fields.

By clicking on a shield, you will be able to select the desired login and the username and password fields will be automatically filled in.

🚨In case the shields do not appear in the right fields or not at all, you can check this article How to adjust the browser extension detection preferences ?
  • Step 1 : On the login form page, click on one of the shields

  • Step 2 : On the pop-up window that appears, click on the desired login.
🚨 If multiple logins are offered, it means that multiple passwords have been saved in LockPass for this website.

The login and password are then automatically filled in: all you have to do is connect to the website.

🚨When you log in using the username and password auto-completion, and you manually change any of the fields after the auto-completion, the auto-completion pop-up will not appear.

Use the copy and paste shortcuts of the extension

  1. Requirement 1 : The browser extension must be installed (on Edge or Chrome).
  2. Requirement 2 : Make sure you are logged in to LockSelf.
  3. Requirement 3 : Make sure the password has been saved on LockPass.

The extension will also allow you, in case where auto-completion is not possible, to access directly from the website to copy/paste shortcuts of the username and password to be able to paste them in the corresponding fields on the login form.

To do this, click on the extension at the top left, and for the releva,t password, copy the username and the password with the shortcut buttons, then paste them into the fields provided on the connection form.

  • for the passwordmceclip1.png

Now you just have to connect to the website.

🚨In case you have a lot of accounts registered in LockPass for the website you want to connect to, you can use the Search function, also located in the extension. The search will be on the password name only.

Use additional fields for login

If, when you registered your password with LockPass, you filled in any of the information required for login in the Description or Optional Fields, you will not be able to use the auto-completion feature for these items.

To fill in other fields on the login form (other than the username and password) without having to return to the LockPass interface, you can do the following :

  • Step 1 : Click on the extension and then on the password to view its details

  • Step 2 : Copy the item you need using the copy shortcut and paste it into the corresponding field

🚨By default, the password and optional fields will be hidden. To view them, click onmceclip3.png
