License activation

License activation • Subscription management

Overview

License activation lets you initialize a new LockSelf instance from a license key, then configure the main organization and the first administrator account. It ensures that only valid, purchased licenses can lead to the creation of an instance.

Activation is performed through a dedicated flow, accessible from a link sent by LockSelf after your purchase has been validated.

Who can activate a license?

License activation is strictly reserved for the super-administrator. No other role can access the activation flow, nor view or take part in this process.

Activate your license

Activation takes place in three steps: validating the license key, reviewing the associated options, then configuring the organization and the administrator account.

Step 1 — Validate the license key

To validate your license key:

  1. Open the activation link sent by LockSelf.
  2. Enter the license key received after your purchase.
  3. Click "Validate".

The license key is a unique 32-character identifier. As long as the key entered does not contain exactly 32 characters, the validation button remains disabled.

Step 2 — Review and confirm the license options

Once the key is validated, a summary of the options associated with your license is displayed, including:

  • the included products;
  • the license duration;
  • the number of licenses;
  • the shared storage;
  • the maximum file size;
  • the additional options.

Check that this information is consistent, then confirm to move on to configuration. These options are read-only: they come from your contract and cannot be changed at this step.

Step 3 — Enter the organization and administrator account

Then enter the main information:

  1. the name of the parent organization;
  2. the details of the main administrator account: first name, last name and email.

This information is used to initialize the root organization and create the associated super-administrator account. The first name, last name and email fields are required (maximum 180 characters) and the email must be in a valid format.

Behavior and special cases

  • Disabled validation button: as long as the key does not contain exactly 32 characters, validation is not possible.
  • Invalid key: if the key has the correct format (32 characters) but does not match any existing license, an explicit error message is displayed.
  • Read-only options: the license options come from the validated contract and cannot be modified during activation.
  • Required fields: first name, last name and email are required (maximum 180 characters); the email must contain an "@" and be in a valid format.
  • Scope: activation through this flow applies to private cloud and on-premise instances.
