Edit a password

Read on to find out how to edit a password.

All users can edit a password for their Personal Space.

From the Webapp

To edit a password from your Personal Space, click on it. The information panel on the right will display the password information: 

  • Name of the password
    • You can change it with the button mceclip3.png
  • Username
    • You can copy it with the button mceclip1.png
  • Password
    • You can copy it with the button mceclip1.png
    • It will be hidden by default, you can unmask it with the button mceclip0.png
  • URL (optionnal)
    • This link can be used to redirect you to the login webpage
  • Description of the password (optionnal)

  • Optionnal information
    • You can copy it with the button mceclip1.png
    • It will be hidden by default, you can unmask it with the button mceclip0.png
  • Research tags (optionnal)
    • You can add new ones, and modify or delete existing ones, on the information panel
  • Attached files (optionnal)
    • Add one or more files by clicking on « Add »
    • View, download, delete or add other files by clicking on « Access »

Click « Modify » at the bottom of the information panel, and on the window that appears, change the username, password, URL, description and optional information.

🚨  After changing a password, you will be able to view the previous version of it. To do this, click on Capture d’écran 2024-06-12 à 14.53.18.pngto display the old password.

Only the previous version will be displayed.

From the browser extension pop-up

When you change a password on a website and want to change it on LockPass as well, without going through the safe again, you can proceed as follows :

  • Step 1 : On the login page of a website, for which you already have one or more passwords saved in your safe, type or paste your username and your new password into the corresponding fields (do not use auto-complete).

🚨If you use auto-complete for the username and password, and then change it by hand, the change pop-up will not appear.
  • Step 2 : A change password pop-up will open, offering you to update the password. Make sure the password is correct and click « Update ».

Your password will be automatically updated in LockPass.
