Checking that my LockSelf account is created and enabling MFA

Not sure whether your LockSelf account has been created, or how to log in for the first time? This article helps you check your account status and enable multi-factor authentication (MFA).

These steps are common to all LockSelf products (LockPass, LockTransfer and LockFiles): account creation, first login and MFA are managed at the level of your LockSelf account, not product by product.

How do I know my account has been created?

Your LockSelf account is created once an administrator in your organization has invited you. You then receive an email:

  • Email subject: "[Lockself] Activation de nouveau compte" (new account activation).
  • Click "Activer mon compte" (Activate my account) and follow the steps to finalize the creation of your account.

If you did not receive this email, check your junk/spam folders, then contact your organization's LockSelf administrator to confirm that your account was created and that the invitation was sent to the correct address. [to be confirmed: invitation link expiry time]

First login with SSO

If your organization uses SSO:

  • Go to the custom domain provided by your administrator.
  • Click the "SSO" tab, enter your email address, then follow the steps to activate your account.

Enabling MFA (multi-factor authentication)

MFA adds an extra layer of security to your LockSelf account. Once your account has been created:

  • Click your First and Last name at the top left, then "Personal Settings" and "Manage authentication".
  • Open your authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator), scan the QR Code displayed, then enter the 6-digit code.
  • Carefully keep the 10 backup codes provided, in a secure location (outside your vault).

For the detailed procedure, see the article "MFA login".

I don't know which product I'm using

Checking that your account was created, logging in and enabling MFA do not require knowing your product in advance (LockPass, LockTransfer or LockFiles). Once logged in, the modules you have access to appear directly in your LockSelf workspace.
