Overview
Hiding passwords allows an administrator, a moderator or a manager to prevent standard users from viewing the login and the password of the items in a shared category in clear text.
Who can enable this option?
The administrators, moderators and managers of the category. The option applies to standard users.
Enable password hiding
To hide the passwords of a category:
- Click on the relevant category.
- Enable the "Hide passwords" option.
When this option is enabled, it is inherited by all the associated subcategories.
What changes for users
- Login and password cannot be viewed: standard users cannot display them in clear text.
- Copy/paste disabled: copy shortcuts are disabled for hidden items. This is expected behavior, and it also applies to the OTP (MFA) code saved on the password.
- OTP autofill remains possible: with the LockSelf extension installed and connected to their account, users click the LockSelf shield displayed in the site's code field, then select the relevant account. The code is injected without being visible. You can find the procedure in the article Automatically fill in an OTP code with the extension.
